Multi-sourcing

Multi-sourcing seemed to be one of the themes at the Gartner Outsourcing summit this year.  It appears that many organizations are now realizing the downside of focusing on a single geography for outsourced resources.  Alternate sources are critical for risk mitigation, resource cost arbitrage and “follow the sun” working models.  China is currently one of the of the primary beneficiaries of this new awareness.  I’ve recently seen a number of deals where clients were exploring China with the thought of setting up an additional outsourcing destination, rather than replacing an existing destination.  It’s an interesting trend that bodes well for the development of the software outsourcing industry both in the region and around the world.
